StockWatch: Alex Cobb
StockWatch: Alex Cobb
The Orioles caved under the weight of having a terrible starting rotation and overpaid for Alex Cobb, giving the 30-year-old righty $57 million over four years.
They better hope his stuff is coming back to pre-Tommy John surgery form, otherwise it’s scary to think how bad a mediocre fastball (91.7 mph) and poor strikeout rate (6.4 K/9) will hold up in Camden Yards and the AL East.
We bumped up his innings projection to 166 IP and along with it his wins went up to 10, but his ERA rose to 4.55 and WHIP up to 1.36 while his strikeout rate sits at 6.5 K/9. The innings bump was enough to get him up to No. 100 in our starting pitcher rankings, but compared to his ADP of No. 63 on FantasyPros.com, we don’t recommend him at all.
